Mahleb Cookies with Orange Zest & Cinnamon

Ingredients:
• 125 g unsalted butter (room temperature)
• ½ Turkish tea glass of vegetable oil (approx. 45 ml)
• 1 Turkish tea glass of powdered sugar (approx. 80 g)
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp Ground mahleb
• 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
• Zest of 1 orange
• 1 tsp vanilla extract (or 1 packet vanilla sugar)
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 2½–3 cups all-purpose flour (add gradually)
Optional Topping:
• Powdered sugar
• Ground cinnamon
Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine butter, oil, powdered sugar, and egg.
2. Add mahlep, cinnamon, orange zest, and vanilla. Mix well.
3. Add baking powder and flour little by little until a soft, non-sticky dough forms.
4. Shape the dough into small balls or use cookie cutters.
5. Place on a parchment-lined baking tray.
6. Bake at 170°C (340°F) for 15–20 minutes, until slightly golden.
7. While still warm, optionally sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon.
Storage Tip:
Let cool completely, then store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
